Both the stars of Brokeback Mountain - Heath Ledger & Jake Gyllenhaal - were real compasses. They had no fear of the material. Each of them reinvented themselves for the role. They conjured the characters. This was the most nuanced and delicate performances from these young actors. Homosexuality is determined by a person's genetic make-up, and it is not about personal choice or upbringing and environment.
Love this film, but it's always been like Titanic for me...An excellent movie to watch, but not often because I can't help the uncontrollable tears near the ending of the movie

This movie absolutely destroyed me, I went to go, watch it with a few friends only one month after I had split up with my husband of many years. I had no idea what it was about, by the end of the movie I was such a basket case, they had to call the paramedics because I was catatonic. I drowned in the river of tears, and was hospitalized for a few weeks, realizing that I let slip through my fingers the love that was never fulfilled in the movie either. It’s actually responsible for my husband and I getting back together, but every time I even hear the first few chords of the opening song, I break down, because the emotions are still so raw. This movie teaches us one thing and one thing only, don’t let love slip through your fingers ever, because it’s a very precious thing, and so hard to find. Yes, it is a tragedy, showing us what happens if we don’t hang on, so what we have, and let fear and insecurities cloud your judgment. I’ll never make the same mistake again, I pray to God that you don’t either. I was born in the late 60s, so when I came to terms with my sexuality, the Internet, didn’t exist, and it was terrifying. If you can find love, whether you’re gay or straight, don’t ever let it go, because of insecurities or prejudices from others. There is nothing worse in the world to live, with a life filled with regret, because by then it’s too late. Don’t let that be you, take the chance, and go for it. If it doesn’t work out, then, at least you have the satisfaction of knowing that you tried, but if you never try, you live a life of regret forever, please don’t ever let that be you.

Wish I could see this movie in Theatre. I was 19 by than when it was released.Before the academy awards, read about this movie in a local news paper of my regional language in India and first ever in my life I came to know that movies on such topics exist. When HBO telecast this movie I used to watch without the notice of my family. Many scenes were deleted for television audience. Thanks to internet and finally Netflix I have thoroughly seen ,enjoyed and felt each moment of this lovestory. The scene where jack and Annis meet after a long time I have seen thousand of time. I am sure I am not the only one who is fond of this beautiful,emotional journey. thanks to Ang lee ,Gake and last but not the least Heath.

How i wish the ending was they lived together, happy forever. i expect more about Jack and Ennis together scene. I feel like its too short and it hurts to watch. The fact that they meet once in a years really tell how hard being a gay in 60's era. Im a gay came from religious muslim family, While my parents keep asking me when i will married, i really dont wanna hurts them and i dont wanna push myself into a fake relationship that at the end i will hurt someone. There is always a moment where i want to suicide to end all of this. My life is not perfect, I never been to relationship in my life and also to hurt others people feeling or to ruin someone life is not my behaviour. Thank you for this movie, Wherever you came from, whatever your race,religion or your skin color i just hope we all keep spreading LOVE one to another as a HUMAN.
kanazef, I'm a parent of a beautiful lesbian daugther, Yes it was hard when we find out, but, our daughter it's the same girl that was before she told us that is in love with a girl., trust yourself and live your life, it's to sort, be brave and talk to your parents, at the end of the day, they will have another son. This film is so beautiful, expressive and sad. The story, the actors, the nature.... incredible. Many scenes look like they were taken from an Edward Hopper painting.

Unfortunately same sex relationship was unacceptable in earlier days but in ancient times it was the norm. Is so sad to see that two people who love and care about each other cannot be together. Even today in some countries it’s absolutely illegal to be in same sex relationship.

Eu nao sei se todas pessoas têm esse "encontro "na vida. Vc saber que é a pessoa da sua vida pra sua vida mas não ficar com ela. É doloroso MUITO. Amor e desejo quanto mais vc tenta esconder mais evidência. Encontro de alma as . Vc vai viver ...tentar. Eu fiquei sozinha por longos anos na minha cabecinha ela ia voltar e seria com ela. Ela nao voltou e o tempo foi passando então eu precisei seguir mas foi ela que mandou...se É sempre nao a resposta é pra Seguir. É uma DOR desgraçada " vc quase nao rir" só de nao andar chorando eu já me sinto grandona😊
